Dear Alisa and Gina,
I frequently get chain emails from good friends. Some of the emails are informative, some funny, and some of them (too many) are those that say you’ll get good luck, if you forward the email it to your nearest and dearest 30 friends, or you’ll suffer horribly. I don’t want to ruin the friendships but I also want to stop getting all the email. What would you say? ~ Not Superstitious
If possible, I think it’s best to have the conversation in person rather than by email. The most important thing to remember when you talk with your friends is to stay connected to the fact you want to be friends and that the fact you get these emails isn’t a reason to dislike them. When you communicate by email much of our sense of connection can be lost. So connect with your belief in the friendship AND hold onto the fact these emails are something you no longer want to say. ~Alisa
Find the delete button. Use it liberally. And knock wood every once in a while, just to be safe. ~ Gina
