There is Superstitious Writing

Dear Alisa and Gina,

I occasionally receive forwarded emails from a dear friend. Often these messages contain all sorts of supportive, inspiring messages. But they also include warnings at the end that threaten dire events if I fail to forward them onto to five, 10 or 15 other friends. It’s nice to hear from my friend but I feel uncomfortable with the overall message. What should I do? ~ Spooked

Strange as this may sound to you, your friend may actually not be that aware of the totality of the message as it impacts you. Sometimes people just get into a forwarding frenzy. So you need to let your friend know how you feel. You can do this in a kind way. However, if it continues to happen then you may need to make your response stronger. ~Alisa

This is why the keyboard has a delete button. Use it often and well. ~ Gina
