Fed Up

Dear Alisa and Gina,
My daughter was in a place where lunch was served and the adult in charge wouldn’t serve her because she said my daughter hadn’t participated in the activity. I bought my daughter lunch and brought it to her. I told my daughter that I was thankful I am able to buy her lunch. Should I have said something to the other adult? ~ Mad Mom

Yes. You should have said, “You owe me $6.50 and an apology.” It’s not acceptable to withhold a meal from a child as punishment. Make sure you report her, too. ~ Gina

I agree with Gina, this is definitely a situation where its right to speak up for your child. I would consider saying something to the adult in private so that she won't feel she needs to save face. ~ Alisa
