Gossip Girl

Dear Alisa and Gina,
Someone I know often betrays the confidences of others and then tries to draw me into the gossip. I think to myself “Never tell her anything.” Should I say something to her about breaking these confidences? ~ Uncomfortable

It's very hard to keep yourself from being drawn in by that kind of talk. Good for you for noticing and not participating! I think you should speak up! And the sooner the better. All you have to say is that her story telling make you very uncomfortable. You don't have to judge her or reprimand her, just let her know you don't condone the behavior. ~Alisa

Yes. The next time she does it you should say, “Hmmm, I wonder what you say about me behind my back.” (Then hope she doesn’t actually tell you.) ~ Gina
