Railing Against Attention

Dear Alisa and Gina,

I’m a 29-year-old straight man. Sometimes when I ride the commuter train home, I see this man staring at me. He is pretty obvious about it – and happens to take the same train that I do nearly every night. It makes me feel very uncomfortable. Should I say something to him? ~ Riding the 4:20

A lot of people stare at other people in public places. In some countries (like India) it's common behavior and widely accepted. And some people stare more than others. I think you might be better off distracting yourself – look at other people, listen to some music, or find a good book. ~ Alisa

I think you should switch...cars. ~ Gina
